Lucy Siegle

Lucy Siegle is a writer, broadcaster and public speaker who has been at the heart of contemporary conservation and environmentalism for two decades. As a reporter and presenter on BBC1's The One Show alongside newspaper journalism, she is credited with mainstreaming action on plastic and the quest to make fashion a cleaner, fairer industry. She has also fronted TV exposes on plastic recycling and campaigned to make greener living fairer and affordable. She currently writes for The Times and Marie Claire and was formerly a longstanding environmental and ethics writer at the Guardian/Observer. Her substack and social media independent journalism brand, The Siegle Has Landed majors in how to live ethically inside broken systems.
She is author of five books including To Die For: Is Fashion Wearing out the World? (Harper Collins 2011, nominated for the Orwell prize) and Turning the Tide on Plastic: How Humanity (and you) Can Make Our Globe Clean Again (Orion). She co-produced and stars in the Netflix hit documentary, The True Cost.
An accomplished live performer and champion of net zero business and policy, Lucy is in demand as a host, chair and keynote speaker, known for her mix of pragmatism, honesty and optimism. She has vast experience in communications and campaigns. If something doesn’t exist, Lucy will create it! For example, Lucy co-founded the Green Carpet Challenge with Livia Firth, working with designers from Armani to Stella McCartney and the Observer Ethical Awards (these ran for a decade and were much loved across the UK).
Lucy also deploys her talents for others. She is a professional speech writer for major high level nature and climate events, including COPs. A true team-player, Lucy is also an experienced programmer and facilitator working with UN agencies and talent managers and everyone in between. Lucy is an experienced charity trustee currently serving on the board of The Helen Bamber Foundation to help support services that give survivors of trafficking and torture the strength to move on. She is an ambassador for WWF UK and The Circle and previous trustee for Surfers Against Sewage.
